The Mesa Verde team has over 110 years of combined experience in banking, asset based lending, and investment banking. 

William D. Farrar

Managing Partner

Mr. Farrar has over 39 years of professional experience in commercial banking, asset based lending and debt advisory. His career began in Minneapolis in the early 80’s as a field examiner at BarclaysAmerican Business Credit (now Bank of America Business Capital), and Norwest Business Credit (Wells Fargo Capital Finance) and later at Diversified Business Credit (later renamed M&I Business Credit and now known as BMO, ABL), as a senior field examiner and business development officer. In 1990, he established a loan production office for DBCI in Milwaukee, WI. In 2009, Mr. Farrar joined Associated Bank’s ABL unit as a business development officer. In 2016, he left Associated for a boutique debt advisory firm in Chicago. He left that firm in early 2019 to start Mesa Verde Financial Advisors.

Mr. Farrar’s career has been focused primarily on working with middle market companies requiring debt financing in the $2MM - $50MM range. Borrowing needs have typically consisted of senior secured revolving lines of credit, equipment term loans, and real estate loans.

Mr. Farrar is a native of Pittsburgh, PA. He is an active member of the Turnaround Management Association (2021 Outstanding Service Award Winner, Chicago/Midwest Chapter and 2022 Milwaukee Planning Committee Co-Chair), and the Secure Finance Network (SFNet).

Andrew Farrar

Managing Director

Throughout his 10 years of public and private sector experience, Andrew has helped business owners maximize profitability while growing their brand as an employer of choice. His consultative approach leaves no stones unturned in helping businesses identify opportunities while capitalizing on existing successes. 

With a finance-focused MBA from UW-Parkside and undergrad from the University of Minnesota, he aspires to continue learning of new and innovative ways to serve the business community. Andrew enjoys thoroughly understanding the story and vision of business owners to ensure their visions can be realized through a competitive lender placement process.

James E. Coffey

Managing Director

Mr. Coffey has over 40 years of professional experience in secured lending. Interfacing with commercial and industrial companies generating revenues varying from $2MM to $250MM; experience includes sourcing, structuring, and negotiating secured lines of credit and term facilities on both collateral and cash-flow measures. The ability to develop unique solutions based on industry/company characteristics, provides added value in solving complex funding requirements.

Mr. Coffey recently completed 19 years of employment with Johnson Financial Group, located in Racine, Wisconsin. Responsibilities included the evaluation of new secured lending opportunities, field examinations, appraisal evaluations, and loan structure/reporting. Prior asset-based lending/commercial finance roles include US Bank (FBS Business Credit, Inc), Bank of America Business Capital (Aetna Business Credit, Inc.), Chase Bank (Marine National Exchange Bank), Heller Financial, Inc., and The Exchange National Bank of Chicago.

Mr. Coffey is a life-long resident of the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. Industry and community service include a multi-year term on the Wisconsin Banker’s Association sub-committee, Financial Crimes.

Philip Renwick

Managing Director

Mr. Renwick has over 30 years of professional experience in the commercial finance, banking and asset-based lending industry. His career included working for Heller Financial, GE Capital, Textron Financial, and Fifth Third Structured Finance.

Mr. Renwick’s career has been focused on working with companies requiring borrowing needs in the $1-50 million range. Borrowing needs have typically consisted of senior secured revolving lines of credit, and equipment and real estate term loans.

He has been an active member of the Turnaround Management Association, the Secure Finance Network and the Indiana Association for Corporate Renewal.

B.A. from Lake Forest College, with graduate work at DePaul University.
